The mat is well constructed and large enough for just about any treadmill. This one is a larger than most would need, but I thought I needed the extra length (I don't). It is strong enough for light to medium use. If you were especially rough on this mat you could wear it or tear it fairly easily. But it does what it's supposed to and you get what you pay for. It doesn't hold them tight and real flat (like the Paperbax does), but then again that's easier on your book and easier to turn the pages. It's compact and easy to take with you. I have an elliptcal on the mat over a laminated floor. This mat is very adequate for this purposes. I also have a bow flex mat that came free with the bow flex and the Gymtough mat is better and cheaper to buy outright ($49 vs. the $99 advertised price for the bow flex mat).
