The base weighs a ton, and somehow the delivery team and my boyfriend managed to carry it up four flights of stairs. This is worth the $300 difference having the roller from the foor plate is what makes the difference. It does feel better compared to rollers directly closer to the foot plate. It took me about five hours. The first hour I spent removing parts from the box and checking them against the parts list. In the process I found an extra short screw, loose in the box. The only short screws on the parts list were inside the pre-assembled frame, so I was forced to remove the side shields to ensure that the extra screw had not come loose from inside.
